I am glad I participated in a clean up operation. I've done all kinds of clean-ups - even professionally cleaning diesel tanks at one time in my life. I had been putting it off for some time but decided to help out. It was very rewarding and intend to do it some time soon. I decided to help a friend out who also has a keen interest in protecting the environment. The amount of rubbish we picked up was quite large. Most of the rubbish we found could be recycled. I do not think people realize that they are damaging the environment from littering. We also found a few filthy mattresses that had been discarded. I am sure these people could have taken them to the tip but they were probably too lazy. We came across a small amount of money which was handy. We ended up buying a few drinks with it. Picking up rubbish is not so bad. I believe I am making a difference even though it only involves picking up rubbish.

I'm not so sure about what to do anymore. I can't seem to get my thinking straight enough to support me in my job. Getting motivated to do anything can sometimes be difficult. We tend to get up and go to work because we know that if we do not, we will not have enough money to pay our bills. However, there is not so much motivation to do other things.

When we think about looking after our body, we should be really motivated to get fit because it makes such a difference to us health wise. However, somehow it seems easy not to think about this and just to ignore fitness altogether or find excuses not to do it. It does take energy, but we find the energy to do our job and so we need to also find the energy to keep fit.

One thing to help is to write down all the reasons why keeping fit is so good for you. Place them somewhere prominent and this will act as a constant reminder as to why it is a good thing to do it. Make sure that you write down things that will motivate you. You will know that it is important to do it for health reasons, but you may actually do it because you want to look good. It does not matter why because you will still be doing it and that is the important thing. So write down things that will personally motivate you and make sure that you look at the list ever day and that will give you the energy that you need to exercise like in boot camp.

There are other things that you can do to motivate yourself as well. Maybe have a treat when you complete an exercise session, exercise with a friend so that you encourage each other or sign up to some regular classes. Have a think about what you think will work for you, perhaps something has worked well for you in the past or you think one of these methods might work best for you now.
