When Jill was a little girl, she liked telling people about her dreams in life. At one point, she wanted to become a teacher, just like Miss Tess. She thought it would be nice to teach little kids to read and write. But when she got sick and had t be hospitalized, she suddenly wanted to become a doctor, like Dr. Bill. She looked so beautiful in her white gown and Jill thought it was cool to make sick people well. And then she met Uncle Bob, an engineer. She asked if girls could also be engineers and when Uncle Bob said Yes her dream changed in an instant. Much later, Jill thought that she would be better off if she worked for herself. So she thought about possible business ventures she could get herself into. Then suddenly, she imagined herself managing her very own wedding catering company. She has always loved attending weddings and every time she does, one thing she notices is that people would always talk about the food served more than anything else. Today, Jill lives her dream as a caterer. |

Fondant covered cakes have such a soft, clean and elegant look that never fails to entice people to eat it! I’ve always loved how fondant looks on cakes and so, on one lazy afternoon, I decided to try giving it a go.
Getting started is the easy and fun part of decorating cakes with Fondant! It was a lot like playing with clay you choose the colors, roll it up, cut it into different shapes, mold it, etc. You just have to have creativity! I ended up making a handful of cute, pink flowers for the cake.
The next part was a bit more challenging: covering the cake with the Fondant. I used a shade of baby blue and I wanted it to look as perfect as possible. It was difficult to keep my hands from leaving any prints on it.
In the end, I was pretty pleased with how the cake turned out! Working with fondant proved to be a lot of fun and I guarantee that if you used to love playing with “play-doh” as a kid, then you are going to enjoy working with Fondant as well! |

The other day I met a lady from Sussex. We met through a colleague in the office. The lady was visiting a colleague, and since I was very much interested in learning about Sussex because I was getting a transfer to that country in three months time, I took the opportunity to learn a little about the country. She was more than willing to tell me so much about her country. We talked for close to three hours, and we did not get close to finishing everything about the country. What I liked most about the country is the way they party. For instance, afternoon tea sussex party is attended mostly by ladies. During the party, the ladies talk about their lives, jobs, current affairs and so on. They even dance and have merry. There are other parties for instance those organized by parents for for children, and those that men organize for themselves. There are other family parties too. These parties bring the people together. I could not imagine how much fun I was going to have in that country. |

I miss my granny so much. Its sad that she had to succumb to cancer. When she was still alive, I would visit her every weekend and she would tell me all types of stories, from the way she grew up to the way her home town was like. I liked listening to her stories so much and this made her so happy. My favorite one was how she met grandpa, and with so much resistance from their parent they still went ahead and got married. It sounded like a fairly tale to me, but it was real. The last story she told me before she was hospitalized was about how people enjoyed tea parties in her home town. According to her, Saturday were the most days in which people met to enjoy tea parties. During the afternoon tea sussex people would talk so much until later in evening. It was like a social gathering. This seemed so much fun, although it was for older adults. It was evident that granny was very happy when she was still alive. I hope she still is. |

Over dinner last night Cherry, Lucy and I discussed the upcoming wedding of Rubi. I still cannot believe that she would be the first in the group to get married. If I am not mistaken she and her husband to be Lee knew each other for about 2 years before deciding to get married. Lucy told me that Lee&rsquos parents are in Canada and would like for them to go there but it is much easier if they go there once they are already married. So they plan to go there a year after getting married and Rubi told me that once she is settled there she would like to petition me so I could go there. While Rubi and her family are busy planning the wedding they decided to hire Nelly&rsquos event catering company to handle the reception. Of course being friends Nelly gave Rubi a very large discount and made sure that the reception will be a blast. We were told that the decorations would be of purely Japanese style and the food we were told that it would Japanese style as well. |
