Moving House, Oh What a Big Task It Was

It was a few months back, when we planned to buy a new place and shift to a bigger and newer place. The thought of the new house seemed pleasant but when we came down to shift in a metro city with less of spaces in the house and more of household stuff, it was a big challenge.
We had no option but to face it.
It took us some time to sink in the feeling that we have such a huge task in front of us but finally came the day when vacated the house and left. The amount of stuff we had in our house was kind off unknown to us also. Over time one keeps stuffing up all the areas of the house without realizing the quantity. The first thing we did was hire a skip lorry to dejunk our house and leave us with just the things we wanted to move.
Another problem encountered by us was the high rise nuildings and our house being on the 14th floor was a massive task. Sometimes, old magazines or personal diaries are left behind which may be misused by anyone, so be careful people. Don't leave behind any old pictures or letters at all. Any furniture which is old and needs to be disposed should be done well in time. Make sure the weather is clear and the day is bright. If it rains, you are in trouble! The moving of furniture needs to be done in phases. First the furniture should be taken like beds and cabinets etc. so that they are well placed in the new house and then in the next phase arrives the stuff which is to be kept in these beds and cabinets etc. Loose and movable furniture may be brought in later, because if its placed first, the bulkier and bigger stuff may not be shifted comfortably. Also, during the day when we shift, we should have snacks and some eatables handy as shifting may lead to exhaustion. Proper availability of water is also necessary even for the labor who is shifting the house. All in all it is a big and messy job but if successful, gives a lot of contentment.
