The Loss of Control when on Mass Transportation

Cars and Transport
Some people are terrified of flying. In fact, this is not an uncommon fear. Statistically, more people die in car crashes than in airplanes. However, the statistics do not always help people calm down and be more rational. I think the fear is based in the realization that we have no control. Someone else, the pilot, is in complete control of our lives for the duration of the flight. Some people hate losing control. It is probably those same people who do not allow others to drive them anywhere. I do not relate to that level of the fear of flying. I do relate though to the fear of being at sea! The thought of being in constant motion, the paranoia of drowning, the fear of getting sea sick and not getting back on solid land for hours… all of those fears would overtake me. It surprised me then to learn that there are so many companies that ship seafreight! That just never would have occurred to me! I suppose though that shipping large items such as a car must be done via boat. I suppose too that shipping items via sea, instead of air, would be much cheaper. I wonder how much commerce is done via boat, instead of air.
